How to Play Dragon Tiger
Dragon Tiger is baccarat with everything removed. Two cards are dealt — one to Dragon, one to Tiger — and the higher card wins. That is the entire game.
A round takes about twenty seconds. That speed is the product, and it is the thing worth paying attention to.
The rules, all of them
Bet on Dragon or Tiger. One card goes to each. The higher card wins and pays 1 to 1.
Card order runs from Ace as the lowest through to King as the highest. This catches players used to poker, where an ace is usually high.
Suits are ignored completely. A King of clubs and a King of hearts are the same card for this purpose.
What a tie costs you
When both cards are the same rank, Dragon and Tiger bets lose half the stake. Not a push, not a refund — half of it is gone.
That half-loss rule is the entire house edge on the main bets, which works out at about 3.73%. It is roughly three times what baccarat banker costs.
The Tie bet itself pays 11 to 1 and carries a house edge near 32%. The suited tie pays more and costs more again. Both are best left alone.
Speed is the real cost
House edge is charged per round, not per hour. A game that deals three times faster charges you three times as often.
Dragon Tiger runs at roughly 20 seconds a round, so 180 rounds an hour is normal. At RM 25 a round that is RM 4,500 of turnover in an hour, and 3.73% of it is about RM 168.
The same money on baccarat, at a slower table with a 1.06% edge, costs a fraction of that. Nothing about the game feels more expensive. The arithmetic is where it shows up.
Side bets and roads
Most tables offer extras — big or small, suit, colour. They pay well and cost a great deal; the edges generally sit above 10%.
Dragon Tiger tables show the same road displays as baccarat. As with baccarat, they record what has already happened. Each round uses a shuffled shoe and carries no memory of the last one.
If you are going to play it
Stick to Dragon or Tiger, skip every side bet, and treat the speed as the thing to manage. Fewer, larger rounds cost less than many small ones at the same total turnover, simply because the edge is applied fewer times.
Set a round count as well as a budget — for example, sixty hands — and stop there. On a game this fast, a time limit is more useful than a loss limit.
